Ferrari..What happens if……

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:23 pm

What do you think would happen if both Ferrari’s were involved in a
first lap wreck.  A restart is required and only the one spare car is
available for use.  Question is , who gets the car Irvine or Schumacher
?

M. Schumacher wants to race at Spa

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:23 pm

>From GdS:

M. Schumacher has said that he wants to race in Belgium. Ferrari have
left it up to him and his doctors to decide whether to race on Sunday.
Tomorrow or Wednesday he will undergo another medical test by
professor Gerard Saillant. If, following the medical test, he decideds
to come back for the Belgian GP, he will still have to get official
permission from ADAC, the German motorsport association which gave him
his racing driver licence, and from F1 doctor Sydney Watkins.

Fun in the sun

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:22 pm

I was lucky enough to – somewhat unexpectedly – see two former F1
drivers having fun in the sun at Silvertone on Saturday. I was there
for the Mini’s 40th birthday party (see url in my sig. for pix) and
didn’t even know there was a Supersports race until I heard a Chevy
big-block fire up in the paddock and bothered to take a look at the
programme.

Not only a host of Can Am and European 2-litre sports racers, but
Martin Donnelly and Mike Wilds. Martin is racing a McLaren M8D – in
the correct Gulf/Reynolds papaya livery – in the series. Great to see
him back behind the wheel and clearly giving it plenty. Finished a
strong second behind Charlie Agg in the amazing 8.8 litre March 707.

Star of the race, though, was BRM ace Mike ‘bearded drivers are best’
Wilds in a gorgeous little 2-litre Chevron. (I suppose all Chevrons
are always ‘gorgeous’ in much the same way that Bob Wollek is always
‘brilliant’.) Anyway, Wilds hung on to the big McLaren of Donnely for
the whole race, pushing him hard in the early laps and only really
losing out when lapping the backmarkers. On the ragged edge through
Copse every lap. Great to see.

Stalone's Movie

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:21 pm

This year and last Fox coverage of the F1 season was "highlighted" with bits
of Sylvester Stalone at the races doing background work for an F1 movie he
has in the works.

I’m hoping that it won’t be a Rocky Balboa in Nomex movie – an insane dash
with two flat tires (Bridgestone), a blown engine (Supertec), and a crushed
vertebrae (accident at Monza) to win the drivers championship (with hugs
from JV) sort of thing.

It is fun to speculate though.  A remake of Grand Prix would be interesting.
A hard-working American (Anyone but Kevin Costner) fighting his way into F1.
A young American Soapbox Derby hotshot (Leonardo DiCaprio) meets obscure and
enigmatic retired expatriate F1 Great (Sean Connery) who teaches the young
apprentice F1 racing starting with changing the oil in a Red
Barchetta……………

But I don’t know what it will be.  Has anyone heard?

tactics (Test 8 -30)

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:19 pm

McLaren’s performance in the last two races has been unprofessional for
a team that prides itself on it’s  organizational and tactical  skills.
I should think that Ron Dennis will be putting a rocket up the behind of
a few people following the pitlane debacles of Britain and the Austrian
collision. But is that fair?

Also, how do people view Ron Dennis’ tactical skills compared to
those of Ross Brawn at Ferrari?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:19 pm

One of Finnish "evening papers" (that actually reach their readers from
early morning) is today hypeing about Mika Salo. It tells that there have
been showring of offers from many teams to Mika, and that there has been one
more 0 in the end of the sum offered.

SALO

Would it not be a good idea for Ferrari to keep Salo for next year, should
Irvine decide to leave ?

Irvine threatens to leave

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:19 pm

>From various sources:

Irvine has threatened to leave Ferrari if he is asked to act as second
driver again next year. Irvine added that speed is not enough, not
making mistakes is important and M. Schumacher makes too many
mistakes.

Prost to cooperate with McLaren

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:18 pm

>From GdS online:

German magazine "Auto, motor und Sport" reports that Alain Prost might
start a technical cooperation with Mclaren. The cooperation would
start from the year 2001. The reason for the technical deal would be
the problems Prost is having with current partner Peugeot.
